America First Policies Names Harold G. Hamm to its Board of Directors
America First Policies is pleased to announce that the founder, chairman, and CEO of Continental Resources, Harold G. Hamm, has joined its board of directors.
“Mr. Hamm’s extensive business background and policy knowledge, especially in the areas of domestic energy and job growth, and his commitment to initiatives that support American energy independence make him an invaluable addition to the board of directors,” said Brian O. Walsh, president of America First Policies.
“I’m honored to join the board of directors and look forward to helping drive a policy agenda that promotes energy independence, job creation, regulatory reform, and a strong national defense,” said Mr. Hamm. “America First Policies is educating millions of Americans on the most prominent issues facing our country and providing an outlet for them to take action.”
Growing up in rural Oklahoma, Mr. Hamm was the last of 13 children born to sharecroppers. He went to work in the oil fields as a teenager and established Continental Resources in 1967 at the age of 21. He built a grassroots startup into an NYSE-traded, Top 10 oil producer in the U.S. Lower 48. Continental Resources did nearly $2 billion in revenues in 2016 while employing over 1,000 individuals.
Mr. Hamm’s industry leadership also includes serving as past chairman and present board member of the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association, as a founding board member of the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board, and as past president of the National Stripper Well Association. In addition, he served as founder and chairman of Save Domestic Oil Inc., which successfully brought a trade case against four countries trying to put American oil and gas producers out of business.
