America First Policies Takes “Tax Cuts to Put America First” Tour To The Lone Star State
America First Policies made its second stop on its “Tax Cuts to Put America First” tour on the morning of Saturday, February 17, and drew about 550 Texans to the Sheraton Dallas Hotel in downtown Dallas for the event.
The series, “Tax Cuts to Put America First,” features guest speakers discussing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act—signed into law by President Donald J. Trump in December 2017.
Saturday’s event featured a panel with Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and U.S. Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX, CD-5), who discussed how the tax legislation is affecting Dallas residents, the state of Texas, and the nation as a whole. The panel was moderated by Katrina Pierson, a spokeswoman for America First Policies and a Dallas resident.
Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor Alexander Acosta and U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX, CD-32) also addressed the crowd.
The event concluded with a 30–minute speech by special guest Vice President Mike Pence. “Since our tax cuts, it’s really been remarkable to watch,” said the Vice President. “In fact, more than 4.3 million American workers have gotten a raise or a bonus since the tax cuts were passed. Nearly 88,000 Texans already got a Trump bonus over the last two months.” To listen to the Vice President’s full remarks, click here.
“The positive effects of the tax bill are rippling through every part of our great nation,” said Brian O. Walsh, president of America First Policies. “We hope to bring our ‘Tax Cuts to Put America First’ tour to every region in the country, from major metropolitan areas, like Dallas, to suburbia and rural America.”
